What is Handlebar Cafe?

The Handlebar Café will be a cafe and bike workshop on the Viaduct Cycle Path at the foot of St Catherine's Hill, south of Winchester.

It will offer refreshments, bike repairs, accessories and information on walks and rides around the area.

The project was created by a group of local teenagers working with the charity Spud.  Spud will co-ordinate the building of the café and workshop and once completed Bespoke Biking will be operating them.

The café and workshop will open 7 days a week and we will have regular bike repair slots, bike hire, organised cycle rides and more.

We hope to open the café and workshop by the end of Spring 2019.

  • A cycle themed cafe and workshop open to everyone!

  • Echoing the shapes of two train carriages passing on the railway bridge.

  • Crafted largely from timber and a model of sustainable design.

  • It will offer bike maintenance, events and organised rides.

  • The cafe will be owned by arts charity SPUD and operated by local Community Interest Company Bespoke Biking.

We offer bike hire, tours and rides around the beautiful streets and
hidden gems of Winchester.

We also offer one to one training sessions, group coaching and kids’
bike clubs to gain confidence and experience.

We can even service or repair your bike.

Bespoke Biking is a not for profit, social enterprise run by Heather Evans, a mum of two, who loves Winchester and wants to share her passion
for cycling.

She is dedicated to helping people realise how easy and fun cycling
is, especially riding in a group.

She has taught adults who have never ridden, takes groups out on a weekly basis and teaches children and adults how to cycle safely and with skill.
